Sawt Al-Quran

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

This page explains what the Sawt Al-Quran app for iPhone and iPad does with data, as in the current version of the app. The same text is in the app under Settings → About → Privacy Policy.

In short

Sawt Al-Quran does not ask you to create an account, does not collect personal data, uses no analytics, advertising or tracking, and sends none of your data to our servers. Your data is stored on your device. If you turn on iCloud Sync, your library and preferences are copied to your own iCloud account so they appear on your other devices.

What stays only on your device

Not included in the app's iCloud Sync and not sent to any server operated by us: your listening statistics, the Recently Heard history, your daily wird and khatma progress, the recitations you download, the copy of the reciter and surah catalogue, reminder settings, and light or dark mode.

The app adds surah, reciter and radio station names to your device's search (Spotlight) so they appear there; that index stays on your device.

If you turn on Lock Screen Audio Suggestions, the app tells iOS on your device which recitations you listen to so it can suggest them; this does not pass through any server operated by us. You can turn it off in the app's settings.

iCloud Sync

When turned on in Settings → Sync, these are copied to your iCloud account: favourite reciters and surahs, your playlists, pinned mushafs, bookmarks, your ayah notes, your Mushaf reading position, your listening position in each recitation and the last recitation you heard, favourite tafsir books, the default reciter and riwayah, display and playback preferences, your daily wird goal, sajdah alert settings, and the app colour.

Apple stores this data in your account under Apple's privacy policy. The app has no server of its own that receives this data, and the data is not made available to the app's developers through the app.

If the iCloud account on your device changes, sync stops by itself: nothing is uploaded to the new account and nothing is applied from it until you turn sync on again yourself. Turning sync off stops copying but does not delete what was already copied.

Downloaded recitations

Audio files you download are stored inside the app's storage on your device, are excluded from device backups, and are not sent anywhere. You can delete them at any time in Downloads or Settings → Downloads.

Services the app connects to

The app connects to the following services only to fetch content, and sends them no information that identifies you:

• MP3Quran.net for the reciter catalogue, recitations, radio stations, verse timings and audio files.

• The live radio stations listed in the radio catalogue.

• Quranpedia for tafsir texts when you request them.

These services receive the content request itself (such as the recitation or tafsir requested) and, like any internet connection, your device's IP address and standard request information. They are independent of us and subject to their own privacy policies.

Reminders and alerts

Reminders (such as the daily wird and Al-Kahf on Friday) and the sajdah alert are local notifications issued by your device and never pass through a server. The app asks for notification permission only when you turn a reminder on, never for the sajdah alert, and you can withdraw it in your device settings.

Siri and Shortcuts

If you ask for a recitation through Siri or Shortcuts, Apple processes your request under Apple's privacy policy, and the app then plays the recitation on your device. The app does not receive a recording of your voice.

Sign-in

Sign-in is not currently available: no account is created and no account data is collected.

If you email us

Contact Us opens the Mail app on your device with a message to sawtalquran7@gmail.com and adds app information (version, system, device model and language) to help us understand the problem. You send the message yourself and can edit it or remove that information before sending. We use what we receive to reply to you.

Data retention and deletion

Data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete downloaded recitations in Downloads, and remove favourites, playlist items, bookmarks and notes where they appear in the app; if sync is on, the item is removed from your other devices too.

Deleting the app removes its data from this device but does not delete the copy in iCloud: it stays in your account and returns if you reinstall the app and turn sync on. The app does not yet offer a button to delete your listening statistics or history; they are removed when you delete the app.

Downloaded recitations and the catalogue copy are excluded from device backups. Settings and statistics may be included in your device backup (including iCloud Backup, if on) according to your settings.

Your control over your data

Your data on your device and in your iCloud account is yours to manage: you can turn sync off, withdraw notification permission, turn Lock Screen suggestions off, delete downloads, or delete the app. Because we keep no data about you on servers of ours, there is nothing for us to show or delete on your behalf, except emails you send us.

Changes to this policy

If what the app does with data changes, we update this page and the text in the app, and change the Last updated date at the top.
